To find site:- Approach Chalons, from north or south on the N44, watch out for exit signed for St Memmie and follow camping signs. Don't worry that you appear to be going through a built up housing area with traffic calming! In the final approach to the site keep a special watch out for the sign as it is low down on the corner of the road, at traffic lights, where you turn left into the road leading to the site entrance. (Chalons has recently changed its name from Chalons-sur-Marne to Chalons-en-Champagne and some signs still use this name, no doubt they will gradually be phased out and replaced by the new name) 

This municipal site is quite large. It is situated in an urban park area complete with tennis courts and crazy golf. There is also a small lake adjacent to the camping area. The whole park and camping is surrounded by housing with clever use being made of the space. The pitches are either gravel divided by hedges or grass which are more open and all are of a generous size. There are two toilet/shower blocks which are of a good quality and well looked after. The block nearest Reception has clothes washing and drying facilities. The site does not have a shop but bread can be ordered from Reception. Opposite Reception there is a takeaway and seating area, hardly a restaurant but a useful facility for those that don't want to cook. There are a few shops just a short walk from the site.

This is a very popular site and fills up quite quickly. We arrived about 2.00pm (mid August) and it was fairly empty but by 6.00pm it was pretty full. Some have commented that this site is expensive compared to some municipals. We paid €18.80 for two of us with electrics, this still worked out less than the CC site, Black Horse Farm with similar facilities, so I was happy to pay that price. Obviously this site is mainly used for overnight stays en route to other places but it would be worthy of a longer stay. Highly recommended site.
