Devizes Camping and Caravanning Club Site, Spout Lane, Nr Seend, Melksham, SN12 6RN Tel 01380 828839

To Find Site:- The best route to the site is to exit the M4 at junction 17 and use the Chippenham bypass and when you get to Melksham take the A365 towards Devizes. At Sells Green turn right into Spout Lane immediately past the Three Magpies public house. The route from junction 15 on the M4 is fine but you have to go through towns like Marlborough and Devizes which makes it a bit slower.

This is a nice site on the banks of the Kennet and Avon Canal a few miles outside of Devizes. It has a mix of pitches, some on hardstandings and others on grass. The hardstandings are just wide enough for caravan and awning. Some are quite long which allows the car to be parked across the width of the pitch. There is a large central area for tents although if electrics are required in this area a longer lead might be required. Otherwise electric points are handy to the marked pitches and are rated at 16 amps and use standard CEE17 blue connectors. There is one central toilet block of a nice standard and all services are located here including a covered washing up area and the chemical disposal point. When the site is full it might struggle to cope at the busier times of day. There are three fresh water and waste water points on the site. Next to the toilet block is a nice adventure playground on a large lawned area. In addition to this play area there is a large field for more robust sports at the end of the site. There is also a large dog walk. Reception sells a range of essentials. Site wide WiFi is available and access cards can be purchased from Reception. Onside of the main barrier, in the car park, is a motorhome disposal point for grey water and taps for re-filling water tanks. This is free to campers but passing motorhomes can make use of these facilities on payment of a fee.

For canal enthusiasts this is an ideal site as access to the Kennet and Avon Canal towpath and is just a short walk from the site entrance. The towpath is suitable for walking and it is also part of the National Cycle Network. Not far from the site along the towpath at Seend is the Barge Inn which does some rather nice food which can be enjoyed overlooking the canal. For those without their own transport there is an hourly bus service on the main road in Sells Green. The X72 runs between Bath and Easterton and included on the route is Melksham and Devizes. The Three Magpies public house is a short walk from the site and also does food. All the local Towns have a choice of supermarkets.
