Gibson Park Caravan Club Site, High Street, Melrose, TD6 9RY, 01896822969

To find site:- From A68 take A6091 towards Galashiels. Do not turn right at first sign for Melrose (road narrow and twisty in places) but continue to roundabout and head for Melrose from this end of town. The site is signed to the right opposite the Melrose Rugby Club.

Gibson Park is situated in an urban area on the edge of the town of Melrose in the Borders of Scotland. It is a very popular site and booking is advised.  The site is open all year and accepts non-members. There is  a tent area but during our visit this was closed so best to check with the site if you wish to use this facility. The site has 60 pitches all of which are on hardstanding including 5 on tarmac for motorhome use. Some of the hardstanding pitches are serviced for which there is an additional extra nightly charge. The electric bollards also have a digital TV connector but you have to provide your own cable or purchase one from reception. There is one toilet block which is up to normal Club standards and it also has a covered washing up area. Reception sells a variety of caravanning bits and pieces. Site wide WiFi has recently been installed on this site. Date of visit late September 2011.

The town of Melrose has several nice looking restaurants and couple of cafes. There is a Co-Op and Spar in the town as well as fuel station. For more serious shopping Galashiels a few miles away would be worth considering as it has both a Tesco and ASDA supermarkets, the latter having a fuel station. Public transport in the form of buses is available from near to the site. Gibson Park would be an excellent base for exploring this part of Scotland.
