To Find Site:- From Saumur on the D947 direction Chinon. When entering Montsoreau the campsite is on the left, clearly marked. If approaching from Chinon do not try and access the site along the river in Candes St Martin but follow the diversion for heavy goods and caravans via the D7 to Montsoreau. If coming from the south via Loudun the D147 is a perfectly good road.

Camping L’Isle Verte is situated along the banks of the River Loire. It is in walking distance of the village of Montsoreau. There are about 95 touring pitches. The ones along the river are popular but they do also look out on a public footpath which will affect privacy. There is also unsecured access to this footpath from the site in several places. ( I have been informed that access is now much more secure with coded locked gates, 2016) The pitches vary in size and shape although if you have a larger outfit you should be able to find a pitch large enough. Also on site is a variety of other accommodation for hire. The site has many tall trees so pitches have to be selected with this in mind if satellite reception is required. Unusually for France the electric connections are rated at 16 amps via CEE17 blue connectors. Water points are available around the site. Chemical toilet disposal and grey water waste are centrally situated at the motorhome service point. There is quite a nice play area for children. In front of the bar/snack restaurant terrace is a nice swimming pool complex. The single toilet block is situated near to reception. It is of a good quality with seatless pedestal toilets with paper provided.  Site wide WiFi is available at additional cost. The campsite accepts Camping Cheques during the low season.

Montsoreau is within a short walk of the site and a little further on is the old town near to the Chateau which is open to the public. Boat trips can be taken from the quay in the town. This site is ideal for exploring the Loire, Vienne and Cher Valleys and the many famous chateaux along the banks of these rivers. Saumur and Chinon are the closest. The Abbaye de Fontevraud is a few miles inland from the campsite. For shopping there is a small supermarket in Montsoreau and a nice Sunday market. For a larger supermarket and fuel there is a Super U in Chinon.
