Great Yarmouth Racecourse Caravan Club Site, Jellicoe Road, Great Yarmouth, NR30 4AU, Tel 01493 855223

To Find Site:- From Norwich follow signs to Great Yarmouth. At second roundabout in Great Yarmouth turn left onto A149 signed for Caister. Turn right into Jellicoe road at traffic lights, immediately past Shell Garage -signed for racecourse, seafront and camping. Entrance to site is left at next roundabout. Take care on final approach to reception as you have to cross the race course through fairly narrow gaps in fence. Please note, access to campsite is restricted on race days, contact site direct for details.

Great Yarmouth Racecourse Site is an open site with little in the way trees and shrubs so I would not class this as a picturesque campsite. All 115 pitches are on grass. Because the campsite is on a sandy base the grass tends to die in dry weather. Pitches are of a good size but the site can seem crowded because of double staggered rows. There are three service points and a motor van waste point. There is one central toilet block which is kept in good condition but is not of the same quality as some of the Caravan Club sites but better than most racecourse sites I have visited. Non members are accepted but no tents. At peak times the toilet block could be under pressure. Reception does sell a few things and will order newspapers. There seems to be no shops within easy walking distance of the site but a short drive away is an ASDA and a Tesco. This is a popular campsite with families so during the holidays there are lots of children on site. Unfortunately they are not very well catered for on site so they tend to play around the caravans. Older children do have access to part of the racecourse for football etc. There is also no dog walk.

On race days the site is closed during the races. Reception will provide you with a pass that allows exit from the site on foot. Also half price race tickets are available from reception on the day. It is quite an exciting atmosphere to be on site during the races. If you don't want to bet but just want a closer look you can sneak a bit closer to the course!

The main reason people use the site is to sample the delights (!) of Great Yarmouth. You can walk in along the coast from the site, although this might be a bit much for younger children. If you did not want to use your own car there are also buses near the the site entrance.
