KNAUS Campingpark Bad Durkheim, in den Almen 3, 67098 Bad Durkheim, Tel 0049 (0) 6322 61356

To Find Site: - Leave A61 motorway at junction 6 on the spur motorway in the direction of Bad Durkheim.  At second set of traffic lights turn right and turn second right at campsite sign. The campsite is at the end of this road. The site is closed between 1.00 and 3.00pm so park on right on approach road as parking immediately outside site is limited. (Avoid the temptation to leave at junction 19 on the A6 towards Bad Durkheim as there are some narrow places in some of the towns and villages en route.)

This campsite is part of the KNAUS chain of campsites. It is a large campsite with approaching 600 pitches although over half are given over to permanent and rental units. From reception there is one long central road through the site with pitching areas off this road. Pitches are all on grass except for a few serviced pitches which have a paved area. Size varies but generally between 80 and 100 sq metres although there are some larger ones. The serviced and lakeside pitches attract an additional nightly fee. Electric points are rated at 16 amps and connectors are CEE17 blue plugs, longer leads may be required on some pitches.  Drinking water taps are place at regular intervals along the main site access road. There are three toilet blocks on the site. They are all of a very good standard with seated pedestal toilets with paper provided. Site wide wireless internet is available at an extra charge. Next to reception is a shop/café where bread can be ordered, although we were not told this was the case when we arrived. Despite a mix of nationalities using the site there is no information in anything other than German which is perhaps a little unwelcoming! The onsite lake can we used for bathing and is popular with people staying onsite. For children there is a large play area suitable for all ages. Adjacent to the campsite is a restaurant/ Beer Garden.  In a separate area at the far end of the campsite there is an area set aside that accepts larger groups of children of various ages. We were not aware of this causing any difficulties. Next to the campsite is a small airfield from which light aircraft and helicopters operate from, during our stay there was not a particular noise nuisance.   This is a good site for an overnight stop or perhaps a longer stay. Date of stay late June 2012.

The campsite is situated in a major wine growing area and there are several wineries within walking distance. The attractive Spa town of Bad Durkheim is a short drive from the site. There are many opportunities for walking and cycling from the site. There are a couple of supermarkets within a short distance of the site.
