To find site:- Approach Lietzow on road 96 and at second traffic lights turn right (campsite signed) at end of road campsite is on the left. The approach road is uphill right the entrance of the site.

Stortebeker Camp is a small campsite and motel situated close to the main road across Rugen Island towards the ferry port ay Sassnitz. There are about 40 touring pitches plus some tent pitches amongst the trees. This site can be very busy so in order to get a pitch it might be wise to either arrive very early or telephone ahead. Pitch size varies quite a bit and larger units could find it a tight fit particularly if you want to put up an awning. All pitches  have service points for water and waste. Electricity supply is rated at 16amps and bollards accept CEE17 blue connectors however it might be best to check for reverse polarity. The site has a nice toilet block with seated toilets and paper provided.  Bread can be ordered from Reception and as part of the same building is a nice bar/restaurant area with and outside terrace. Opposite the terrace is a small children’s play area. The site currently does not have any internet facilities although the owner did mentioned that he hoped to have it installed soon. Apart from BBC News 24 and a few obscure English language  channels we were unable to get the normal BBC/ITV programmes on our 80cm dish The site accepts the ACSI Card in the low season and the CCI Card will also solicit a small discount. Date of visit end of May 2011.

The campsite is quite centrally situated to explore Rugen Island and many of the popular destinations are a relatively short drive away such as Binz a delightful seaside town. For shopping most of the towns on the island have some supermarkets but for more comprehensive shopping Bergen, about 7 miles away, has a good selection. There is a good cycle network around the island, including from near the site. Trains stop at Lietzow for various parts of the island.
